Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Commission
While working within set decoration on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, I was presented with the unique opportunity to create four large paintings to represent the works of Delia Deetz which was to be displayed in the re-vamped Deetz house set. I worked closely with the Production Designer, Mark Scruton, and was given a great amount of freedom in creating these pieces.
I was inspired by the journey of Delia Deetz’s character as she blossomed into a popular artist in the story. Her methods are quite unusual and I decided to reflect this in my process. Photography of manipulated human form created the basis of my journey, forming collages and alternative perspectives to create abstraction.
